I use "deli" mostly, "aptal, manyak, gerizekalı, salak, etc" are also used and they're rude words indeed but when you say them smiling, they sound like you're joking and people may not misunderstand it.

It is not Turkish word for “stupid” that will be considered as polite but the way how you say it or the context you are using it in. If the person is your boy/girl friend, you can say salak (or any other word) in a loving and tender tone. Choose the appropriate tone and body language when you are using it.
