What do you call a sound made i.e. when moving heavy furniture? Something like in the recording.

I need that for translation:
Is (the sound) enough for you to know where a rat is?
=When a rat i.e. runs into something and makes this sound, you hear it and you know where it is. What do you call this sound?

I'd call the recording a "scrape" or a "scraping sound"

squeak is higher pitched

creak is relatively deep. Bones creak, wood creaks, houses creak.

@KevinF It's supposed to be a translation of a song in which a cat tries to catch a rat. So, the rat ran into some object and made a scraping sound, and because of that the cat knew where the rat was. I know it probably sounds very stupid but actually this is for my BA thesis 🥲😂

A cat running into something wouldn’t likely make a scraping sound in my mind but I do think that would accurately describe the audio you attached to this post.

The equal sign and the i.e. threw me off

@KevinF So would it be fine to use "a scrape" in this case?
In Polish, we use the word "szurać" which means making sounds when moving something or eg. when you look for something in a bag full of various items, you can also "szurać." I really have no clue how to translate the word properly...🤔

@cynamonka_ancymonka do you know what the cat ran into? Like a wall, trash can, etc.

A rat running into something sounds unintentional. Like the rat slipped or couldn’t see where it was going or was distracted by the cat chasing it

Thud, thump, bang, clang, etc
It would depend on what happened.

Scraping is like when one thing forcefully rubs against another. It works with furniture because the legs of the furniture might scrape against the wood floor.

A rat’s nails / claws could scrape something but this wouldn’t likely happen from running into something
