Why in the phrase c) is there no "di"?

a) Busto di Michelangelo Buonarroti
b) Ponte di Rialto
c) Ponte Carlo

( c) is a name of a bridge in Prague)

An explanation that I have found is that "Ponte di Carlo" would indicate a possesion, i.e. that Carlo owns the bridge. Is that a correct explanation?

yes, it’s correct, if you say “ponte Carlo” you are referring to the specific name (“Carlo”) of that bridge (that was originally called “Stone bridge” or “Prague bridge” and then “Charles Bridge” because its construction started under the auspices of King Charles IV), whereas “ponte di Carlo” means “Carlo’s bridge” (Charles’ bridge, bridge of Charles).
Anyway, “Ponte di Rialto” comes from “ponte del mercato di Rivoalto” (Rivoalto market’s bridge).
“Busto di Michelangelo” means “bust of Michelangelo” or “Michelangelo’s bust”, but, depending on the context, it could also mean “bust (made) by Michelangelo”.
