Domanda in primo piano
- Spagnolo (Spagna)
Amar - To love (someone)
Querer - To love (someone)/To want (something)
Encantar - To love/like a lot (something)
In Latin America they also use "amar" as to love something, that is strange in Spain.
For example:
"I love eating"
-> Me encanta comer (Spain)
-> Amo comer (Latin America)
"I love you"
-> Te quiero (more common in Spain)
-> Te amo (more common in Latin America)
The difference between "amar" and "querer" meaning "to love someone" is that "amar" implies a stronger feeling, that's why in Spain we don't usually say it. In Latin America they say that a lot to their partner, family and friends, but Spanish people only say that to their partner and when we've already been with him/her a long time, we don't say "te amo" when we have just started the relation.
"I want to buy that"
-> Quiero comprar eso
