"Continue" means to carry on, or to start again.

"Last" means to carry on, and quite a lot of other meanings.

I hope this good weather will continue.
She continues to do well at school.
They continued on down the road.

We use last (like "continue") in this way:

I hope the good weather lasts until the holidays.
Do you have enough milk to last the weekend?
This is my favourite shirt, I hope it lasts another year.
Their friendship lasted for many years.
Our guests really like the wine, I hope it lasts.

Can you see the difference?

Hmm...I suppose that "continue" goes with "will", but "last".
Could I say "I hope this good weather will continue until the holidays"?

そうですけど。。。

But also... "I hope this good weather will last until the holidays."

You can often say "continue" or "last", they are both OK sometimes.

You can see the difference in "Our guests really like the wine, I hope it lasts."

This means I hope the wine will be enough.

And "Do you have enough milk to last the weekend?"

Also, will it be enough?

So, in those examples it is slightly different.

@Igirisujin: Oh! A Japanese website that teaches English says, "last" isn't used with "will"...
I found it's wrong.

It's a bit difficult for me,
but I guess "last" means especially a particular period of time.

Sorry if I'm wrong but thank you for giving me a lot of examples😊
