To me a table cluttered with plates and glasses, and waiters interrupting every 5 minutes is *as much a hindrance to doing serious business as a mind clouded with drinks.
Is it possible to say "the same hindrance as" instead of "as much a hindrance as" in this context?

Hmm if you wanted to word it that way, you could change the word “hindrance” to something similar like “drawback”. Like “…every 5 minutes has the same drawback as…”
Using “hindrance” that way doesn’t sound right/natural.
I hope that helps!☺️

@Noah_B Thanks a lot for the feedback.
My post is from one of English textbooks for English learners. Do you mean "drawback" would work better than "hindrance"?

In this instance, yeah I think “drawback” would work better👌🏻
