Hi, sorry to ask, but
I've learned the new idiom "the more the merrier/better" recently. then I wondered what's the antonym of them so I came up with that they should be "the lesser than better"
but someone said it's wrong and the correct one should be " the less than better" or "the fewer the better" so I was really confused and even now.
How come the word "less" wouldn't be the comparison form? and why did they use "fewer" instead? I'm sorry but these words went over my head and literally confused.
it'd be great if you could give me a hand….🥲
