If you want to say "20 years old", you should use "20歳" or "20才" instead of "20年"

These mean almost the same thing.
『20年頃に英語を勉強しました。』 と&『20年頃から英語を勉強しました。』
These do not make sense to me.

20年頃＝2020年、1920年、 昭和20年などの意味になってしまいます
約20年・20年ぐらい＝about 20 years
20歳の頃＝around 20 years old
ex. 私は20歳の頃に英語を勉強しました。

「ぐらい」の方が幅広く使えます。
ぐらい→we use it when we expressions about amount, year, money and etc
ごろ(ころ)→for time and year(s)
(ex)around 3 o'clock
