The team that I support lost the game, but it wаs аn interesting gаmе.
Is it correct to write "흥미로운/흥미진진한 경기였습니다" in this case? And which one is better to use "흥미로운" or 흥미진진한"?

Both words are not much different but
흥미진진한 is a little bit more exciting than 흥미로운.

Both words are almost the same meaning and the team you support was lost so I feel you were not that existed watching it.
That's why I chosed 흥미로운.
흥미진진한 이라고 해도 전혀 틀리지 않아요~~
'흥미진진한'은 '흥미로운' 보다 좀 더 강한 감정이라고 생각하시면 돼요~
But sometimes 흥미진진한 이 어울리는 경우도 있어요~

흥미로운 is used very different situations and 흥미진진한 can be used you are having interesting continuous some period of time during you are(were)watching some games or reading a interesting story or listening a interesting story from others.

You were watching the game with interest some period time so you can use 흥미진진한 too.

A:(요리 하기 싫어하던 사람이)
나 요즘 요리배워
B:That's interesting
그거 흥미롭네.(not 흥미진진한)
Because it is just one fact you hear she is learning cooking.

A:How was the movie?
B:It was interesting and I couldn't take my eyes off it until the end
흥미진진했어. 영화가 끝날 때까지 눈을 뗄수가 없었어
You enjoyed some period of time
so '흥미진진하다'가 어울려요

'인상적인 경기였어요'is also ok.
In case it was exciting and you really enjoyed it then '흥미진진했다' 가 젤 좋을 것 같아요.

인상적인 경기였다 means it was an impressive game
