I got it HACOLIFEさん. I know it is very detailed but I find it really interesting. Actually, if you meant "one of two"／"one of them"，"the opposite side"／"the other side", then it is 『対立的に存在するものの一方。がわ。』 according to the definition of the dictionary :

The dictionary says 『二者を取り上げて比較した時の一方』 for examples where you compare A and B regarding a characteristic like 背が高い in「兄より弟の方が背が高い」, but here you didn't compare the two sides regarding something, you just pointed one side (「実験とは関係なく殺された」) who is in contrast with the other side (「実験とは関係なく見つかる」), hence 『対立的に存在するものの一方。がわ。』. Basically, my point is that you didn't do 比較 here, より is not implied here.

This is the sense in which there are multiple groups of such attributes and any one of them choice specified.
So in this example, "ほう" can be replaced with another word.

　→ ”私たち" こそお世話になっています
　→ "我々" こそお世話になっています

・「"相手のほう" から苦情が出た」

HACOLIFEさん, when you say "B is correct." in english or in any languages as a matter of fact, it is not a comparison from a logical standpoint, so in english you cannot say "B is correct rather than A." or "B is more correct than A". That is just because, logically, something is either correct or not correct, and that is what you meant by choosing 「実験とは関係なく殺された」, who is the correct side, over 「実験とは関係なく見つかる」 who is the incorrect side. As you can see, the 対立的な関係 is clearly obvious here.

So in english you have to say "B is correct instead of A." (="B is correct in opposition to A"). That "instead" is the 対立的に of 『対立的に存在するものの一方。がわ。』, 対立的に really being the keyword here. That is why I said that you didn't do 比較 here by answering 『「実験とは関係なく殺された」の方です。』, you just picked one correct side that is in opposition with the other side who is not correct, hence why 方 of『「実験とは関係なく殺された」の方です。』 is 『対立的に存在するものの一方。がわ。』. From a logical standpoint, it makes perfectly sense to me.
