I know that на + accusative case expresses motion/direction, but in this sentence this "rule" doesn't make sense

Well , from the perspective of space and time continuum it is logical. we get all the groceries needed to move from the current time position into another, 7 days later;) You can also encounter мы взяли еды на дорогу. Since the trip is going to be very long, we got enough food for the whole time of the trip.
