ohh is one of the most powerful words "boh 🤷‍♀️". The world envies us like "ciao".
All my foreign friends (Japanese, Chinese, African, Argentinian, US) always gasp when I say this. amazed. Those who start using it naturally never get rid of it.

As mentioned above it means "I don't know" but in such an immediate and natural way that it almost seems like an extension of your hand.

it's something between "i dunno"" and "i don't care".

There is also "mah!" with a slight nuance of displeasure and disinterest. For example when they ask you: "Hi! how are you?"
If you want answer: "So and so. Nothing special. it could be better but I'm not complaining. Job is ok (even if it's boring). My wife doesn't annoy me too much. My kids aren't geniuses but hei! at least they don't do drugs. My favorite team won't win the championship this year either. I took the cat to the vet to be neutered last week (still alive but staring at me all the day.. weird). oh! want a beer??"

it feels very similar to the english "dunno". though it isn't the shortened version of any italian word, unlike dunno.
you can also be quite expressive when saying boh: you can hold on the o for a long time to mean you really have no idea; you can say it in a very high or rising pitch to sound excited or curious about the matter; or you could make it sound bored, uninterested, ironic, annoyed and so on. so yeah, it's basically the equivalent of "dunno" because of its informality, feeling and versatility
