@DannyJoung That's what I noticed.  I think the music from the 90s/00s which is when I was in high school and university was more rock than now.  Being a huge fan of 90s grunge bands like Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins, I would love some recommendations of Korean music that was this style.  I have found Japanese grunge music but not Korean.  I will definitely look for it :)
