I had personal issues that I had to take care of last month. Therefore, I couldn't do something that my college requested. The request was not urgent, but important.
As those personal things are OK now, I don't need to take care of them much.
Now, I finished his request and will send e-mail, saying the reason of my late response. The sentence I requested to review is one of the sentences of my reason.

I would write it as "*My* personal *issues* *are* almost settled."
Your explanation was very clear and helped me understand the context of your post, thank you. The problem was that your message was unclear.
Firstly, English uses lots of pronouns (unlike Japanese) so it sounds more natural to include the "my" at the beginning.
Second, "things" is a vague word, and that was arguably the main problem in the sentence. Issue is more accurate but is still vague enough to avoid going into personal details.
Lastly, have been settled is an impersonal, passive sentence construction. It creates an odd distance between you and your issue "have been settled" sounds like something that you would read in a lab report. "Are settled" is more natural in this case.
Good luck!
