If you flake on someone, it means you don't follow through on a promise.
For example, "Me and my sister were supposed to go to the movies, but she flaked on me."

Probably true. I'm American and I would use it with someone more often. I also hear "to flake on someone" or "to be a flake" (=someone who forgets things easily, isn't dependable).

@sixessseven When I got home he had already flaked out on the bed. ☜ I heard the British use it like this
- Inglese (Stati Uniti)
In your context I'd use the phrased "passed out" or "was already asleep" obviously because flaked brings a sense of being deserted or ditched
