Do you have an appointment this coming Sunday?
A. I'll ask my secretary.
B. I don't have a choice.
C. I have a couple of minutes to think.
D. It's my rest day.
The answer is D, I chose A though.
I don't understand why the best answer is D but A.

I think the best answer is A, since you imply that you are trying to answer the question by asking your secretary while D is just stating that you have a rest day (which can imply a lot of things)

@arZenik Yeah, that's what I thought at first glance.
D is also kind of unnatural
However, I just noticed, it is on Sunday - most people don't work on Sundays hence secretary wouldn't know the answer

@nickjoh yeah, that would make since in the cultural perspective, but in some countries the day off isn't Sunday so A is culturally neutral.

Your answer is also correct.
I think the reason the answer was D is because Sunday is usually a day off / rest day.
Secretaries in the office usually know your schedule during the week (Monday to Friday), and not on Sunday.
The answer D is a bit unnatural, a better sentence would be "I have the day off"

@nickjoh I meant to agree with the first comment that both are correct but it's a cultural implication so I understood why people would choose A
