Qual è la differenza tra Nationality e Citizenship ?Sentiti libero di rispondere con un esempio.

In certain situations, one's cultural background or identity must be distinguished from what country one belongs to. I think the word 'nationality' can refer to both of them, while the 'citizenship' refers only to the latter. So, if we encounter the word 'nationality', we must infer its meaning from its context, mustn't we?

Nationality = where you were born, your cultural heritage, et cetera

Citizenship = countries in which you hold the legal status of "citizen".

Nationality is a persons identity of were they are originally from, whereas Citizenship can be earned.
Fo example, my Nationality is British (As I was born in the UK). If I were to move to Japan for the required amount of years, I would earn a Japanese Citizenship.

Thanks for your answeres. However, what I was really interested in is: what should I write in the box of 'nationality', for instance, in a landing card at UK airport, if I acquire other country's citizenship (consequently I must lose my original Japanese citizenship)? I guess that in this context, 'nationality' actually means 'citizenship' rather than my cultural backbone.
