I've been talking to a friend on Tandem who is Japanese, and she says that she feels like 「お元気ですか。」 is pretty polite/formal, and wouldn't be used with friends unless you haven't seen them in a bit.

I then asked about 「ちょうしはどう」, she said that that is pretty casual, but seems like something a rapper would say.

So, my question to everyone is this: What kinds of ways do Japanese speakers ask "how are you" in average conversation with someone they speak to on a regular basis?
