@ayeeitsluisa Some people here use WhatsApp. It's not as common as snapchat or Instagram though. I don't know what they use in the states, but I've never even heard of iMessage.

@AL-Ademi21 I think it's just a chat app. And no. It's not rare but it's not popular. At least not where I live. Most people just text or use the messaging thing on their snapchat or Instagram accounts.

@madily iMessage is not an app, it's a way of communicating that is very common for iPhone users for Americans as well as Canadians ( I'm Canadian) .
When an IPhone user has data on/wifi and texts another IPhone (or IPod, IPad pretty much all apple products) it is send as an IMessage. 2 Apple product users can FaceTime each other with wifi or data (same concept as skype) , they can audio call each other etc..
Therefore it is very well used throughout Canada, since Apple products are very used here.

@muyaka I said WhatsApp was an app, not iMessage. I said I hadn't heard of iMessage. Which is true. But I've used Android for my last like, three phones, so I'd have no reason to know it. It'd be common for sure if it's built in in every apple phone. Most of my friends and family have iPhones.
I still think WhatsApp is popular regionally though. I know one girl who moved to my town from Toronto who uses it, but otherwise I only know a group of bros who do because they don't all have Instagram etc and they wanted a place to share memes with each other. Probably some places use it a lot and other places don't or don't yet.

People text via SMS, Whatsapp, or even Facebook messages. Most of my university projects groups communication was done via Facebook.
Describe it how you want, but iMessages is still an app.

it depends on which part of Canada we're talking about x) because I've never seen anyone using WhatsApp, most of people just use SMS texting or messenger

I'm from Italy and we use whatsapp, because here the Apple products are expensive so most of the people use androids, here everyone uses whatsapp
