Domanda in primo piano
I've been studying English as a self-taught for over 3 years, and my current level of English is C1. I know a lot of people who studied English at school for over 9 years, and their English is literally rubbish -- there are a few exceptions, but not many.
As long as you stay focused, put the effort into learning, you can achieve great results in no time!
Whatever path you choose, make sure you truly enjoy the way you're learning -- that's the key to succeed, don't give up!

Personal study is better because you're able to work at your own pace and you can work with more material. For me classroom study was too slow and I was able to learn on my own much faster than I would've in class

I was happy to help you :). In my humble opinion, you can achieve great results no matter what way you choose (However, I don't really like the way foreign languages are taught in Czechia -- you are forced to learn lots of the grammar, and when you need to use the language, you get stuck and don't say a word.). Don't take me wrong, people do need to learn the grammar, but for most people it's rather discouraging when they are thrown into it.
