in the dictionary there are multiple translations for the following words. did I pick the appropriate or most commonly used ones?

shampoo 洗发剂
broccoli (green) 西兰花
lettuce 生菜
avocado 牛油果
cream cheese (the kind for bagels) 醍醐
minty chocolate 薄荷的恰克力
bell pepper 柿子椒
grapefruit (pink inside) 葡萄柚
toilet paper 卫生用纸
grocery list 杂货店单

I think cream cheese should be 奶油干酪 ; bell pepper should be 甜椒 and grapefruit should be 西柚. Others are good :)

I'm not sure which part of China you learn mandarin to communicate with, as in mainland China and Taiwan we both speak mandarin but the way to express the same thing can differ. I'm from mainland China and below are the most commonly used for your words: 洗发水，西兰花，生菜，牛油果，奶油奶酪/奶油芝士，薄荷巧克力，柿子椒／灯笼椒／菜椒／青椒(only the green ones)，西柚，厕纸／卫生纸，购物清单（if you mean a list of groceries to be purchased）

I understand it can be confusing for a beginner, but as long as you expose yourself more to contexts in real life, like going to a supermarket in China or search for these words in a Chinese shopping website such as taobao.com or Amazon.cn you can find it easier. 😊
