It's the same, but "ze" is less formal and used more while speaking

Sorry, but what @EleMuCaa says is not correct. One is not more formal than the other, and the difference is not related to spoken versus written language.

Many pronouns in Dutch have a strong and a weak form. Examples weak/strong: ze/zij, we/wij, je/jij, je/jouw.

There are cases in which both forms are correct, but in some cases, only one form makes sense.

When you're contrasting, switching who you are talking about, or explicitly emphasising who it was that did something, you use the strong form. Here are some examples:
- Zij gaan pizza eten. En wat eten wij?
- Wie heeft dat gedaan?
Wij!
- Wij en zij kennen elkaar al heel lang.
- Zij zijn rijk, maar wij zijn arm

On the other hand, it often sounds unnatural if you use the strong form when there is no need. You will be understood, but it is not what a native speaker would say. It is similar to using the strong forms 'I am' and 'we are' in English in cases a native speaker would use the weak (contracted) forms 'I'm' and 'we're'.

Please note that the weak forms always take less effort to pronounce for your speech organs, as it typically contains the so-called schwa-sound, which is the vowel you produce by just letting your mouth hang open and letting air through. Like the 'uh' in English 'duh'. I guess it makes sense to be lazy when you can. :-)
