No. It was the past. It's normal because of the war. But you know sometimes we are thankful because the French bequeathed many good things here, for example: many reliefs, architecture and civilization :)

If you want to visit Vietnam, I would recommend you to go to Đà Nẵng. The air is comfortable and it has a lot of beautiful places. One of those place is called Bà Nà Hills. That place has French and they performed music there. I heard some songs and love them even i don't understand

Lots of Vietnamese are even thankful for all of the heritage (architecture, culture, language, etc.) that French left in Vietnam. It was terrible in the past, but on the other hand, French built an organised civilization.
