I'm confused, what languages are spoken in India? I thought it was only hindi but I see now people speaking many others. Are they all from India itself or they came from other countries? (Mandarim, english, french, arabic)

max are regional languages few were adopted from the colonizers here there are many languages and evn many regional dialects

@julia700 mostly these languages are divided into two category... Indo-Dravidian language and Indo-Aryan language..

most South Indian languages belong to indo-Dravidian and North Indian languages belong to Indo-Ariyan

as in my region specially northern parts hindi is very dominant here i grew up with hindi , english , punjabi and sanskrit

What did you expect? Population of India is match more then population of Europe. I think You can find similar quantity of languages and dialects in Europe.

@julia700 in my family we have to speak 3 language... one my native language Bengali, local language sambalpuri and Odia.. but in study we use English and Hindi

It's honestly quite hard to manage on just Hindi, especially in the south, I feel, as almost each state has a language that is HUGELY dominant, that isn't as widely spoken anywhere else in the world. In Tamil Nadu, for example, there are no Hindi signs (due to a movement soon after independence), and the same is happening in Karnataka. But this applies only if you're living here.
