I want to say "You have to pay a little extra money to eat in that area." Can I leave the "money" out and say "pay a little extra" instead? Is this idiomatic?

Yes you can leave it out. It is more common to leave out the word "money" in this situation.

Yes you can leave that out, which I think it makes the sentence flow a little bit better. It also doesn't make the sentence repetitive.
