In China,no matter your family is rich or poor, you can recieve a sort of elite education. But that means a heavy study burden, life is full of competitions and pressure.Children spend most their time on study,a happy childhood is a luxury.Parents always tell their children,if you don't work hard, you don't have a good future.Except for regular courses at school, many children have to go to cram schools.
In America,I think only those very rich families would teach their children like in China. And most children have a free childhood.
Foreigners always say math of Chinese is good, but it takes a lot of practice,we aren't smarter.

@moewww_ Many famous universities in America are very expensive, but most schools have scholarships, so outstanding and dedicated high school students can attend. High school students vary in dedication in both high school and college here. But, as a college professor at a top university (USC), I was very surprised to see the spectrum of dedication in Chinese students. I guess they need to relax after Gaokao (how do you spell that).
Also, students often get "student loans" and pay for University themselves (without their parents' money), and pay it back within 10 years of graduation. I guess it's easier to get accepted here too. Princeton, our top school, accepts 7% of students who apply. I heard that it's much more difficult to get into the top schools in China.
"For all I know" is used when you think something, but you know so little that the opposite might be true. you put this phrase before a very unlikely situation: EXAMPLE: He hasn't called me in a week. I don't know what he's doing. For all I know, he could be in France with another woman!
"From what I know" or "As far as I know..." is a better fit for this situation. :)

Wow, just beginning? You must have talent! You sound like you've been studying for a long time.
spectrum= Range. The spectrum of a rainbow is from red to purple.
dedication= how hard someone works. Adj: dedicated.
spectrum of dedication in students:
some students work very hard, some students don't work at all, and there are many in the middle.
please let me know if you need more examples :)
