Loan is when you "borrow" something like money from (for example) the bank or a friend.

Debt is the obligation to pay the loan back.

For example:
- I loaned money from a friend so I could pay my rent.
- I got a loan from a bank.
- I'm in debt and now need to find a way to pay up.

debt is when you have to pay back the person or place but you're struggling to pay them back

the bank loaned Tim some money

Tim is in debt because he has to pay back the bank.

A loan is something, usually money that you borrow. Debt is what you owe because of the loan, like credit card debt.
