What are some idioms commonly said in Norway? For example, in the U.S. we have "break a leg" for good luck, and "grass is always greener on the other side" for wishful, but naive thinking.

Living in a tourist area, one of the most common expression here is "det er helt Texas her", when there are so many tourists in the shop so it's super chaotic and a bit uncivillized. Like 'murican shops on black friday.

Det er bedre med en fugl i hånda enn ti på taket = "it's better to have one bird in your hand than ten birds on the roof"
It's better to have a small, but certain thing now than a potential bigger thing in the future.

Det er ikke gull alt som glitrer = "not all that glitters is gold"
Means that not all the things that seem great are after some investigation.

Brent barn skyr ilden = "burnt child avoids/fears the fire"
You learn from your mistakes.
English equivalent: Once bitten, twice shy.

En fjær blir lett til fem høns = "a feather can quickly turn into five hens"
Means that if a story is told over and over again it will turn out a lot bigger than it originally was - rumors.
English equivalent: Make a mountain out of a molehill.

Ikke selg skinnet før bjørnen er skutt = "don't sell the skin before the bear is shot"
Don't promise too much before you know for sure.
English equivalent: Don't count your chickens before they've hatched.

Ingen røyk uten ild = "no smoke without fire"
If something looks bad, it probably is.
