Qual è la differenza tra remove e get rid of e cancel ?Sentiti libero di rispondere con un esempio.

@haileyjun: "Remove" y "Get rid of" son lo mismo. "Cancel" es igual como "cancelar" en español, parar un proceso antes de cumplirse

Remove/ get rid of both mean to take away something. Ex. Can you please remove the onions from this burger?

"Get rid of" is a bit more informal than "remove", and usually also means to dispose of or throw away something. Ex. You would say "Please remove your shoes" to mean "take off your shoes". But if you said, "Get rid of your shoes" you be telling someone to throw away their shoes.

If you "cancel" something you are saying that a planned event, schedule or meeting is not going to happen anymore. Ex. "Class is cancelled today." means that class is no longer running. You could say something like "I have to cancel on our meeting today" to say that the previously planned meeting will not take place. but you couldn't really say "Get rid of/Remove class today", because that would mean that you want to take away class. Remember that you aren't getting rid of class, just saying that some event will not happen. I hope this makes sense (:

To remove:
= 1. To change the place of something
Example: I want to remove this couch, where else shall I put it?

= 2. To just take it away from it's place
Example: I don't like this sticker on my car, I think I will just remove it

= 3. To erase or delete something
Example: I'm too tired to remove my make up
Example 2: omg please remove this picture from Facebook, I look horrible

To get rid of (has a more negative meaning):
= 1. To get rid of something/ To throw it or give it away and never use it again
Example: these clothes are too small now, I need to get rid of them!
Example 2: omg the house smells awful, how can I get rid of this smell

= 2. To get rid of someone/ send someone off or breaking contact with them
Example: omg he is such a stalker, I don't know how to get rid of him

To cancel:
= to break off plans or rearrange them to another time
Example: Don't forget to call the restaurant and cancel the reservation
Example 2: oh I'm so sorry, I have to cancel my plans with you...something came up, maybe we can meet tomorrow
