It’s absolutely not rude, you can choose to order either a primo or a secondo or both 😊 it’s a bit weird if you don’t drink anything but it is only considered rude if you take something else to drink from the outside

No, it's fine. You can order only one "piatto" if you want. Or at least, in the casual/average type of restaurants it's ok. I don't know about high class expensive ones, because I never go there. lol
Anyway, it's weird if you don't order anything to drink, because then you're supposed to eat your meal without drinking anything. It's considered very rude to bring beverages you bought somewhere else to drink them there, so I suggest you to order at least some water if you don't want to spend too much. Water is very cheap.

@pmh412 it's not rude! Since I don't eat a lot I always order only one dish haha it's totally fine!
It's not rude if you don't order a drink, but it's rude if you bring water from home and drink it at the restaurant instead of buying water there

Is it rude to eat, for example, the primo piatto twice?
- Paese o regione Italia
@Leonardo90 no, it's not. On the contrary, they'll actually be flattered if you order the same piatto twice, because it means it was so good that you want some more! It's called "chiedere il bis".
Or if you meant ordering two different primi piatti instead of the formula primo+secondo, that's fine as well.

@pmh412 No, it's not. At least not in the 99% of the restaurants, but if you book a table in a fancy one and then just order one dish... nobody will say anything to you of course, but the owner probably would not appreciate it so much.
Obviously I'm talking about Michelin star restaurants and similar

It’s not rude at all. I always order only primo because most restaurants put so much pasta in one plate that I’m full after eating it.
