I don’t recommend you use Genki as a beginner. In the long run, that book won’t give you a solid foundation in Japanese grammar. It’s not bad for learning basic conversation, however it’s not all that comprehensive. There are better books out there.
I personally recommend “Tae Kim’s Guide To Japanese Grammar”. From start to finish, it’ll provide you everything you need to get on your feet. Best part it’s online, simple, and completely free (http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/). Though if you want you can buy the physical book (completely same as online version).
After you finish this guide, I recommend the book “A Dictionary of Japanese Particles” by Sue A. Kawashima.

Hmm... I don't want to recommend you a "text book", because I'm studying English though, I just finish reading "The List (by Siobhan Vivian)". It's the book for teen though, pretty easy and fun to read for me learning English. Hold on...Let me think...

Just wondering.. When writing in Japanese do you use spaces to separate words?

I found 'Japanese for Busy People 1' great for starting out, easy to understand. ^^ If you have an android or IOS phone, 'Human Japanese' is a great app for learning Japanese, I would highly recommend it! They have a basic and intermediate version, and he explains grammar in an easy to understand way. ^^

@Hawlie Hey! Thank you I will definitely check these out.
I had some spare tokens on my kindle Audible account so I've just downloaded JapanesePod101.. I'm definitely more of a visual learner though so apps will be great👍🏽.
I will try the 'Human Japanese' app. ありがとう 😊😊

Hi, I'm sorry for the late reply. Yes I think we tend to use spaces when we write Japanese language. For example :" (English) I read this book last night, and it was very interesting. (Japanese) 私は(わたしは : I )、昨夜(さくや : Last night )、この本(ほん : Book )を読みました(よみました : read)。とても(とても:very)興味深い(Interesting)です。 ” @shannypocket
