nice > great > wonderful/amazing

wonderful - something that causes delight, pleasure, or admiration
amazing - something that cause great surprise or wonder/something surprisingly impressive.

it depends a bit on the context but basically wonderful and amazing are equal to : 素晴らしい
Nice : おいしい (specially if you refer to food) or
いい = in general.
Great: スゴイ

"wonderful" and "amazing" are words that are more powerful than "nice" and "great". but they basically mean the same thing

@shinchandesuyo Nice is the most formal/calm of these positive words.
Ex. I hope you have a nice day. She is so nice. That was was nice of him to open the door.

Great carries a little more emphasis but is often used formally in the work place or after someone completes a task.
Ex. I finished my assignment. That is great!
Great, good job. Great, now we can move onto the next task.

Wonderful carries more emphasis than great and is used to describe a person, place, or thing as being very positive. Although it’s less common in normal speech.
The hotel staff were wonderful. I think it’s wonderful that you study English everyday. Oh this device is such a wonderful little gadget!


Amazing has the most excitement and emotional emphasis of the 4 words. Ex. You are truly an amazing person. I think it’s amazing how much they’ve accomplished. I’m amazing at Mario Kart- let’s play!

Wonderful and amazing are usually from your personal opinion.

Nice and great can be a more universally accepted opinion.
