Does the phrase “people in the BOP (base of the pyramid)” sound discriminative expression for poor people?
I would like to say that “I work for the company specializing in electric supply business for people in the BOP". Do you feel the phrase rude to them?

It may be a little discriminatory. It might be better to say: “I work for the company specializing in electric supply business for people that aren’t well off.”

I'm relieved to have heard of your advice before the speech for colleagues in Tanzania. (They get enough salary tho.)I would like to choose appropriate phrases in order to create a good relationship with them. That's why I wanted to grasp the nuance of the phrase among English native speakers. Thank you very much.
