What is your role at your company??
Is this a good question or a rude one when I ask someone whom I meet for the first time at a business meet-up? And Is this natural English?

It all depends. You could simply ask "What do you do?" but if it's a situation where you already know vaguely what the person does or where they work, you could say something like "So tell me more about what you do?" or "What type of projects are you involved in at Company XYZ?"

As for your original question sounding natural, I'd say it as: What is your position at XYZ?
I would reserve "role" for things like someone's role in a project (leader) or for an organization (What's your role in the organization?) but I think it could work with company but it just sounds slightly unnatural to me. But that's splitting hairs.

Thank you for your quick response. You exactly understood my situation that I already knew where they work but I did't know what they did at their company. I'll use 'What is your position at XYZ?' next time! :-)
