Both are technically correct but unless you want to sound very formal use the "have to" construction

Oh, I had understood that 'have to' was only used for strict obligations you have to accomplish no matter what and 'must' for obligations you impose yourself or someone recomends you a way harder than 'should'.

That's true to some extent but using "must" in question forms is quite formal bordering on pretentious/ironic.
