There can be other versions depending on your level of sincerity, closeness to the person, and how enthusiastic you are about talking to them again.

additional the night and three days ago sound very unnatural, but your point will be very clear as the other person will knoe what your talking about.

@jimjun: understand what you are saying there is just a little bit extra info not needed......... I'm truly sorry for being late and wasting your valuable free time. that was completely my fault. I should of gotten home earlier that day. If you would forgive me can we try again? You don't need to tell them when it was as they know. And change more early to earlier but we'll done for what you had written :)
