3. я sounds like 'ya' after ь,ъ and in the beginnig of the word
деревья, объявление, яблоки, явление;
in all other cases it sounds like 'ia'
менять, понять, понятие, меня зовут Маша [menia zavut Masha]

@InMusicaVeritas you can get the pronunciation of щ from english word 'she' [щи] when we are speaking about woman, the first sound is щ :)

@Olena888 Thank you very much. Could you please pronounce some words with "ш". I have to train my ears to distinguish between those two letters "щ" vs "ш" 🙃🙂 I understand a lot of Russian words since Slovenian is also part of Slavic languages but pronunciation can be sometimes tricky to imitate to sound natural as good as it gets. And by the way your English sounds amazing.👏👏👏!

@aloe I have noticed a lot of time individually letters from Russian alphabet do not sound the same way when they are spoken in the words. For example in the word "молоко" not all the letters "o" sound the same. It is the same in Slovenian there are some rules how to pronounce some letters when they are combine together in the words.
