- Inglese (Stati Uniti) Quasi esperto
I don't really know the difference, but these words (pero, ngunit, subalit, kaya lang) are used differently depending on the formality(?) of the content.
For example,
(Pero) is the one that is regularly used.
- Nais ko pong sumama, pero hindi po ako pinayagan.(I would like to come along, but I wasn't allowed)
-Pero hindi ko kinaya, bro.(But I couldn't handle it bro.)
(Ngunit) and (Subalit) can be used interchangeably. These ones are used for old translations or really formal ones. Though they are sometimes used for everyday conversations as well.
- Gusto niyang bilhin yung bestida ngunit/subalit hindi siya nagdala ng pera.( She would like to buy the dress, but she didn't bring money)
- Nais ko pong sumama, ngunit hindi po ako pinayagan.(I would like to come along, but I wasn't allowed) *sounds more formal/respectful*
(Kaya lang) is the most casual, and 'nga' is usually inserted between the two words:"Kaya nga lang".
- First na sana siya, kaya lang natapilok kasi.(He could've been first, but he tripped)
- Sasama sana ako, kaya nga lang, may plano na sila mama.(I wanted to come with, but mom already made plans.)
But at the end of the day, they all mean "BUT" and can all be used equally/
Hope this helps.
