Hey everyone. I live in Germany and I'm planning to study here in Germany so I can be an English, French and German teacher.
Can I move to the US after having studied in Germany and be a teacher there?

Yes you can move here :) I'm sure you'll be able to work too. There's a Spanish teacher at my school that immigrated from Mexico and became a teacher!

It depends on which state you plan to move to. Each of the 50 states has different certification requirements for teachers. I would check with the State Education Department of the state you plan to live in. Good luck!

Teaching licenses and the requirements for those licenses differ from state to state, so I would recommend looking up the state requirements in the area you want to work in the US.

If you do become a teacher, be a college teacher or a private school teacher. You don't want to get into the mess that is our public schools

We're having a hard time as a country figuring out how to effectively teach our children. Our schools are underfunded and focus extensively on "teaching to the test". It's about stuffing facts into their head and getting them to spit them out for the test. If kids don't do well on the standardized tests, the board of education can cut their funding or fire people. A lot of teachers have suffered burnout because they feel like they aren't making a difference in our schools, and things like art and music keep getting cut due to funding issues.
Meanwhile, private schools have the advantage of plenty of funding and not having to prove they're effective via standardized testing. Colleges have the same advantages, and you're working with adults who want to learn.

well that's a relief in a way, though it's sad to hear everyone's having that problem
