Hi again,
I have the verbs идти and дойти. I understand that they both mean 'to go', but that the second verb has a perfect aspect.
Could someone explain the difference in English, please?
And give a (very 😉) simple example in Russian using the present tense of these verbs?
Thanks in advance!

Дойти means to reach your destination, or some point on your way. It is also perfective, as you said, so it doesn't have a present tense form, only past and future.
Я иду в магазин. - I am going to the store.
Я дойду до магазина. - I'm going to go to the store, reach it, buy what I needed and probably come back.
Я иду на почту. Когда я дойду до того дерева, поверну налево. I'm going to the post office. When I reach that tree, I'm going to turn left.

"Идти" is a simple word like "to go". "Дойти" is mean "to go" too but when u have some conditions like some time (Мне нужно дойти до школы, пока не начались занятия - I need go to school before lessons hasn't started) or when it's so far and you are not sure you can't do this (Я не дойду до дома, я устал - I can't go home I'm so tired). Sorry for my English lol )) I hope you understand me.

I have to have a better look at this in the morning. I understand what you are both saying (great examples!), but it is all quite unusual for me. 🙂
For now thanks very much!

Дойти is a telic verb, i. e. it means "to go" with a goal/destination in mind.
Идти simply means "to go".
The examples given above pretty much sum it up.
Идти is also used when we're talking about weather phenomena (идет снег = it's snowing, идет дождь = it's raining). Дойти can be used in expressions that describe reaching a certain state (дойти до сути = to reach the essence of the problem, дойти до ручки = to go nuts).
