It basically means "Let's do a better job." The hockey team is more than likely not doing so well so the coach is telling them to do try harder and play better.

@wannaspeak-TED Yes. You can use this phrase at work. If you were the leader of a team that was rushing to meet a deadline and you saw that they were slacking off, you could say "Let's pick up the pace guys."
