I watched YouTube and a Japanese teacher told his students that you can't call cats (dogs, etc.) "pet" like " This cat is my pet. This is my pet" something like that. He told them that you should call cats (dogs etc.) "animal companion" Is it really true?

Age usually isn't an issue, so some may ask. But most don't unless it's a small or personal business =)

Gender and race are usually never asked about out of respect for the persons privacy. So that much is pretty correct.

We call our cats and dogs, etc, pets. We call them our animal companions, too. But commonly, pets.

This teacher also taught his students that job interviewer must not ask interviewee's age, gender and race at a job interview.
Is it correct ?

Age usually isn't an issue, so some may ask. But most don't unless it's a small or personal business =)

Gender and race are usually never asked about out of respect for the persons privacy. So that much is pretty correct.
