When to use "do/da/etc"? I mean for instance, the sentence "Do Brasil" is quite difficult to me to understand. I know it means "de+o" = do, and so. But why use "o", "a", etc? I would say just "de".

Our language is based in genders, then the pronouns change according to the gender of the word. Usually when the word ends with o, it's a masculine word, then you gotta use "do", when it ends with "a", you can use "da" in most of the time.
However, there are some execptions, for instance, "Canada" ends with "a" but it's a masculine word! You must read books/news in portuguese so you can learn and it goes more natural to you! Good luck!

@oopsehun is related to the genre of the word, as in "o menino (do menino)" "A menina(da menina)" and specific that is of a certain girl...

And "de" it's when you're talking about objects, but portuguese as the most of latin languages, has a lot of exceptions..

You have to use "do" to male words and "da" to female words. i know, it's not so easy in the beginning.

@lmbtt_ na realidade "de" preposição, não é usado apenas para relacionar objetos. De modo geral, podemos usar ocultando o artigo "esta boneca é de Rebeca"

Quando você diz "de", na maioria das vezes você está se referindo a um objeto (existem exceções) e Brasil não é um objeto nessa frase, e como Brasil é um substantivo masculino nos usamos "do", ao invés de "da"
Se estivéssemos falando sobre alguém que é da Alemanha(Germany), nós falariamos: Maria é da Alemanha, já que Alemanha é um substantivo feminino
