We don't use these complicated ones often. For a long time we only did things like :) :( ;) :D :P
Now that emoji are on most phones, many Americans are using them. 😉👍

Hah. No worries. It's informal, but more importantly, it's seen as something that 8-16 year old people do. It makes a person appear unintelligent.
Reading things like "U r so kewl" makes my eyes bleed.

Yes. English speakers usually use simple emoticons but sometimes we use Japanese or Chinese style ones. Depends on who you're talking to. Usually we use ones that are easy to type on a typical English keyboard like ^_^ OTL stuff like that. But many of us like and recognize many emoticons like the ones you posted. ( ^ω^ )
