When I say, "I have started reading a new book," does the "new book" have two possible meanings? In other words, may "new book" mean "new book to me" or "newly published book"? If I want to clearly mean the former, how should I say?

I started reading a book recently.
Recently will show the time effect, and that the book is new to you. You can choose to drop the adjective 'new'.

"I have started reading a new book," means you started reading it recently UNLESS you add something else to make it mean it's a newly written book.
