It's hard, no doubt about it. freelancing and opening a small business is very risky unless you have a)second income in the beginning or b)savings. Biggest part of the risk are the taxes, which can be up to 50% of earnings. It's very scary to start something on your own and knowing that you have to pay 24% tax and then another tax of the final earnings and then a few hundreds on social per month even if you made no money and it goes on and on. My brother opened a small store a couple years back and it's barely scrapping by. I'm not jocking when I say that more than 90% of the money go to taxes, social and bills, sometimes he has to pay more than what he makes. I'd love to start my own thing in my town, and I'd love to be able to pay my taxes according to what I make, but it's impossible. I either have to evade taxes or have enough savings to for the first few years ( just to pay the bills).

It's also hard to find a job, not impossible, but most jobs take advantage of the situation and pay very little, they know that you won't complain and even if you do, they'll find someone willing to work for scraps easily...

I just got told that people should be grateful to be working for 20€ a day.

It's a lot of stress to be honest and it doesn't look like it's getting better, but everyone tries their hardest I guess...
