Italian people take care of themselves also by spending a fortune in clothes since Italy is the country of fashion. Then of course, there are those who don’t really care but in general we tend to take care of our image

I'm Italian and I thing that no, we aren't all playboy but there are a lot of italian guys that spend enought money on clothes and we are quite carefull about how we dress

Compared to other countries, maybe the percentage of men who is aware of brands and keep hair tidy and freshly cut is higher than other countries. But this doesn't mean that all men are like that, most men will still wear casual outfits and won't care too much of their hair.
For example, nowadays it's not rare to see men having an appointment at the beautician's to have their eyebrows fixed, or hair on chest waxed. But even if it's not rare, it's not the majority of men.
As for the playboy point, I think some foreigners are tricked by the fact that for girls being catcalled by men in the streets in Italy is an everyday experience. But I think it's not cool in the slightest bit.
Putting the catcalling stuff aside, italians are quite open in showing what's on their mind, so if they like a girl they are not secretive on it, and the same way goes for a girl who like a men. Maybe that's also why italian men have this playboy reputation

No, we usually don' t spend the 80% of our money on clothes but I think that we can get to spend the 40/50% at most but depends by the people. I'm talking about guys becouse I'm not married and I have no idea about how much they can spend but usually the women spend more than men
